Cincinnati Enquirer Inquires about Roller Skating

On Sunday, May 29, Pop Culture Reporter Lauren Bishop of the Cincinnati Enquirer, paid a visit to the Memorial Day Late Skate session at Skate Town USA in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ms. Bishop interviewed several skaters about today's skate scene. Among those interviewed were Stacey Davis (Ms. Rollin Diva), Rob Hunter ('Nati Skate Train), Mr. Norman Carr (soon to be 80 years old and still skating) and Ms. Alicia Reece (Cincinnati's Mayoral Hopeful).

Alicia Reece Mayoral Campaign Update

Alicia Reece is doing well with her Mayoral Fundraiser but she still has a way to go. Running for mayor in a fairly large city such as Cincinnati takes a large amount of money. Alicia's goal is to raise $150,000. So far she has raised over $60,000. The roller skating community has contributed a total of $5,000 towards her campaign.

If you would like to help Alicia reach her goal it is definitely not too late. Here is your opportunity to help make your mark in African American History.

To make a contribution, you can mail check, cash or money order to:

Committee for Alicia Reece
2081 Seymour Avenue
Cincinnati, Ohio 45237

Make your check payable to:
Committee for Alicia Reece

All contributions must include the following which is required by law:

  • Your full name and address
  • Telephone number
  • Name of employer. Please indicate if you are self-employed or retired.

And last but most important, please write on the check “Roller Skater” so the skaters will get credit. Alicia will be keeping track of contributions made by skaters and it will be known that skaters from across the nation have shown their support.

Please note that checks from corporations or non profit entities cannot be accepted and the maximum contribution from any individual is $1000.
